hax

Some servers allow you to use some "code mods" to expand on the server's functionality, as a client or as a host. Expect things like custom saber colors, new console commands, nice admin tools and more.

Just pasting this here, since people ask me all the time where they can download it.

- Also works without jk2mv and every other jk2mp.exe.
- Backmirror is broken when you enable dynamic glow lol.
- Don't use "save windows position" button in the menu (if you do: go into your cfg file and delete the hax_savedWindowsPos cvar)

Installation:
1. Install JK2MV
2. Put the hax.pk3 into your gamedata/base directory or mod directories (e. g. gamedata/TwiMod).
3. Make sure you don't use any other pk3s with qvms.
4. I packed my jk2mp config to the archive as an example. You don't need to use it.

Usage:
1. Pretty much everything you need is to bind the +hax_opmode command to a key.
E.g. /bind b +hax_opmode. Hold it and you can set up the hax.
2. You can also configure the HaX via console. Type /hax to see all cmds/cvars.

Notes:
1. If you put "hax_sabertrailtime" to a high value, you want to raise "r_maxpolys" and "r_maxpolyverts" too. e.g. to 999999 (put it in your autoexec.cfg)

Achievements/Stats/Announcer:
Payback - Kill an enemy who killed you 4 times in a row before
Retribution - Kill an enemy who killed you 6 times in a row before
Vengeance - Kill an enemy who killed you 8 times in a row before
Extermination - 3 monster kills
Headhunter - Kill the same enemy 5 times in a row without killing an other enemy between the kills
Termination - Terminate a spree of another player
Excellent - Kill an enemy with having 100+ hp and 100+ shield
Perfect - Kill an enemy with 100+ hp 150+ shield
Impressive - Dont get lower than 75 hp 4 kills in a row
Unreal - Dont get lower than 75 hp 6 kills in a row
Humiliation - Kill the same enemy 10 times in a row without getting killed by him
Last Second Save - Survive after you went down to 1hp
Combowhore - Chain some combos together (dfa, bs)
Firstblood - Your first Kill in a new game
Doublekill - 2 kills chained

The way JK2 has developed in 1.02 over the (many) years, people in the FFA scene usually do either FF, PP, NF duels, FL or just random hanging/laming about. People who do FL always use wallhack. It's just part of the gametype, sort of. It's not so much that you 'need it so you can win', people don't want to play FL with you if you don't have a wallhack. In that regard, it's not cheating but maybe rather.. an unfortunate consequence of being a lot more effective than force seeing (unless you've modded it serverside.. heyhey!)

Of course, it can be used in CTF and places where you should not use it, but if someone really wants to cheat in this game, no one is going to stop them (at least not anymore it seems).
So I don't personally have anything against distributing this in a place where you'd ideally find whatever you needed for JK2, as that is one of the things that are needed by quite a lot of people. The alternative is that they get it from someone directly (like jozuf) or go to the jk2ffa forum which is so to speak not active.

Typical explanations.
If it was created with good intentions, it would be strictly connected with a serverside mod, or these cheating features like wallhack would be opt-in, controlled by serverinfo cvars. Write a mod where everyone has wh and I'll call it fair.

What I see here is a downloadable cheating software that will work on any non-pure JK2 server.

Heard this argument over and over again in gaming communities rotten by cheaters. What it always really means is that everyone who wanted to play clean and competitive already left.
Of course, it can be used in CTF and places where you should not use it, but if someone really wants to cheat in this game, no one is going to stop them (at least not anymore it seems).
That's a very weak argument for acceptance and promotion of cheating.

Well this thing existed way before the source release (ceh). Also why was the "fight" lost? Somebody just have to build a proper solution ;). For WH at least I can imagine a rather simple approach: Don't send client information to clients where they shouldn't see other clients. I think in JK2 this is solved with "Portals". Put portals everywhere on a map, problem solved ez.

Also, like Boothand said already, FL evolved around a (shitty) WH so I made a better one. Just block the .pk3 if you don't like it (people would use ceh then but nvm). It's not that this makes you a better player lel.

First step on "fight against cheating" is not accepting it. If you do - you already lost.
Yeh post dem server exploits, so they can be fixed gg.
Just asking if they would be censored. Companies, even open source software projects keep exploit reports hidden for a reason. Even though "everyone can use them".

(you practically can't make a working anticheat on linux because you can - in theory - do the hacking in kernelspace which is undetectable from the outside :lol: )
Another way would be to make a simple anticheat like leaguemod had which can be bypassed pretty easily and is only effective on noobs.
Creating an anticheat is a lot of work and not worth it^^ believe me, I actually did it some time ago. :lol:

Sure, I would like to see this "hax" clientside on jk2.info once it doesn't work anymore too. Or once it works only on opt-in servers as I suggested earlier. Yes, it could be easily circumvented but at least it is a clear message to everyone - we don't accept it.

For you fighting against cheating means building sophisticated preventive software. For me it's building fair-play community based on trust and clean rules. If you don't even try to do the second part, good luck with the first one - you will fail.

I know it's lots of work. That's why nobody bothers. Another thing is to get the anti cheat accepted. No1 wants a anti cheat root kit installed on his computer ^^.

fau, you need to understand that we don't see ourselves in the position to decide what players should do and what not.
We are just a bunch of people trying to create a place for the community. Because we can.

If you don't want to play with cheaters, play exclusively with trusted people.

You will not see any kind of banning / deleting from me unless someone does illegal stuff which could hit me personally.

Well, if you accept cheating in your 1.02 community then I'm not going to recommend it anymore. It's kinda sad though.
I hope nobody uploads 1.04 cheats here.
