In the next jk2mv release, there will be high resolution fonts. You've already seen how it looks in-game. Console font is causing some problems because the old one is so bad that you can't find anything similar. Please help us decide, or suggest your own fonts. Unfortunately bold fonts will be visually smaller due to 16x8 px size restriction.
  1. Original JK2 console font – for comparison. Notice how ugly it is.

  2. Code New Roman – Visually the largest one so it's probably my favorite:

  3. DejaVu Bold – Like it very much, but it looks too small:

  4. Hack Bold – Kinda similar to dejavu, even smaller and less pretty imo:

  5. M+ – Quite similar to original in size and weight, but it only works like this without extended ascii characters so it has no chance to be "official" jk2mv font sadly.

I like how 3 and 4 looks while typing, but I like the original one for the console out of those. Not number 2, though.

Out of all of them, I like Dejavu Bold most on big glyphs and Code New Roman as the console font but I would be fine with Code New Romans big glyphs as well.

I've just pushed patches to jk2mv github repository, so if anyone builds jk2mv on his own, you can test high res console fonts.
Here is Code New Roman package. Theoretically there may be glitches on other video cards/drivers, let me know if you see any (and screenshot them).

And there is this wiki page on new shader language extensions: https://github.com/mvdevs/jk2mv/wiki/MV-Shaders
It's not stable until 1.2 release though.

ive played the last week, and ive seen some fonts not working properly in hi-res. (i cant remember exactly which one)

i will try this, thanks

Oh right. This font wasn't high res until yesterday (and only if you download code_new_roman package above) :)

If you want to try out the font please use "1.1-105-g2ad3421" or later (https://jk2mv.org/builds).
