Well, not the jk2sp.exe itself, rather the recipe and ingredients that are used to make it. But, yes!

Right, gotcha.

Just out of curiosity, did you get in to the coding knowhow purely through JK?

I'm learning through school primarily. I started simple a little before that, but not with any source code. It has taught me a lot of things though.

Ah, wow, I see, that's impressive. I sure wish they taught me coding back in my school days... That's lucky. Anyway, I digress, let's stick to JK2,

Yeah I'll get around to it eventually.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand - am I going to achieve this ultimately through OpenJK or by some other means? By other means would be more preferable as I've been advised against openJK for JK2 due to bugs and incompatability.

I already tested OpenJK for JK2 SP, it is much more stable since the last time you tried it. (i recommend this because they already fixed a lot of things from the original source yet)

so, lets go:

*** i moved this tutorial to "Tutorials" sections, click here ***

I hope this can help u :P

Ah, wow, what can I say... looks great Tr!Force, what a tutorial!

Firstly, thank you so much for taking the time to compile that tutorial. I can't wait to get started, and I will follow the guide tonight and let you know if I was successful. I also support making the tutorial in to a thread of itself, go for it.

But before I do, may I just ask, will I have to back up my vanilla jksp2.exe in case anything goes wrong or is it cool as long as I back up assets0 and assets1?

Thanks again, you rock 8-)

No problem, for that we are :D

im looking for a way to make the weapon damages customizable with a cvar, but my first attemp failed (i tried to add g_weapon_bryar_dmg cvar), but doesnt work like the multplayer code, i will found a solution for u :)

u dont need to backup the original jk2sp.exe or something in gamedata because openJK works separately from the original game :)

also the assets, u dont need backup them because these are never touched or modified. if u want add new stuff or replace an existing one, just copy them and modify, after make a new pk3 file and put inside.

NOCMAKE_C_COMPILER could be found.

And then in the same window it says:

NOCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER could be found.

How do I fix this???

did u installed CMAKE first? with Admin Rights? (right click -> execute as admin)
and...
did u have checked the option "add CMAKE to system PATH (for you or all users)"

if not, uninstall cmake and install again, tell me if that was the problem

that means cmake can't find visual studio
(to be more precise it means that it can't find the C/C++ compiler which is installed by installing visual studio)

did you install it?

Wow... so I got CMake to work (before I installed the wrong version of Visual Studio) and then I progressed and got right to the end of the tutorial, following each step.

I downloaded the SDL2.dll file, and then I launched the openjo_sp.x86 but unfortunately I receive the following error:

'Could not open string package 'KEYNAMES''

What does this mean? What did I do wrong?

I just learned that the SDL2.dll file is inside the OpenJK folder already, so no need to DL it from Github.
OpenJK\lib\SDL2\bin.
x86 if older than vs2015, otherwise x86_2015.

I don't know if this is in the post anywhere, for JA there were weapons you could download that do extra damage and have different effecs. big knockbacks and lightning etc. That would be fun to work in JK2
