[WIP] Boot's farm animal revolution

Post by Boothand »

I've had wild accusations made towards me that I'm only making farm animal player models. Well, this is no longer true! Behold, iron man!
*Looks behind his back*... Wait, what?

I assume I'll continue soon, but here's what happened a couple of months ago.

If I'm gonna play as a character, it had damn well better be an animal of some sort. Luke Skywalker is also fine.

Given enough consistency, I would set out to make the full pack - duck, horse, cow, pig, sheep, rooster and Yoshi.
In fact, I did make a Yoshi that you can actually place in a map - however, making a player model out of him would do some interesting (frightening) changes to his proportions.

THAT is exactly what I wanted Boothand to ask about, but I didn't want to make a post for that.

So I guess you attach a player with a sitting animation to the model's back and woosh? :D Not that JK2 mp supports actual custom vehicles.

You never saw the tie-fighter and such on dark? Playing as r2d2, r5d2, mouse, mine_monster, ...?

I've tried that droid I found on deathstar, but not any others I think. I just mean, this is restricted to moving around as a static model, I suppose. Any walking animations are out of question, right?

Yes, I am afraid so. At least without writing a clientside for that, but then you don't need the serverside vehicles.

Well, nobody would see Yoshi without a 'clientside' mod at some point, anyway..!

They would only need the model to see the vehicle. And both, the vehicle and your model do exist. A special clientside would take a lot of time and effort to make. ;)

For the record, this is NOT a player model... but. Why am I doing this?
I think I wanted this as a statue of a boxing champion in Birdflu City. Then I suddenly wanted to color it. Now I don't know what it is.

That was my intent, and yes! I might post it on this site unless I finally follow the urge to map out Birdflu City/Bootland.

Thanks, but the model is neither a glm, nor a md3 model at the moment. Or well, Boothand didn't say what format it is in at the moment. ;)

If Daggo wants an md3 of this, I'd send him (and yes, map objects are always either md3 or ase). In either case, I'd stay away from Milkshape
It has a free trial, but is not a very amazing modeling tool. Blender (with mrwonko's plugins) or Noesis would work for exporting md3s or converting to/from md3/glm etc ^^

Well, i said that because u can export a md3 from an glm model, is how i converted some models to vehicles (in the time when i used md3 as vehicles), for example, converting kylemodel.glm to kylemodel.md3 easily

Anyways, ure right, is a paid tool (i used with a custom serial key lol) thats bad. Obiously is better to use blender. ^^

But the model is not even a .glm model, yet. ;)

Off-topic: Why would you convert the glms into md3 models to make them vehicles, when we're talking about original jk2 content? Why didn't you just use the .glm models?
