Because your data may need to go over the USA or London even though Daggolins server is hosted in Germany, too.
Not sure whether you know how the internet works but basically there are big exchange points where all these internet providers come together.
One of the biggest is in Frankfurt and guess which provider isn't connected because they suck? Right. Telekom.
They have their own exchange point's and don't want to connect to DE-CIX, which is why data in some cases even goes through the US because there is no shorter way for it.
Daggolin has some smaller local provider which most likely is connected to DE-CIX but not the Telekom. Like everyone else.
Open cmd.exe and enter "tracert dark-clan.servegame.com" (That basically is DARK Homebase's address)

That's how you can see which route your data makes though the internet.
Not sure whether the situation has improved since 2014 so would be interesting to see what your result is.
