Re: Conversion of SP maps to MP-playable, serverside

I see, thanks. I downloaded TriForce's code, but the compilers he claims are in there are not actually in there, so I will have to download them separately, I suppose. Maybe I'll give that SDK thing a try. Do you need qvm compiler though? If it's just for local testing you can compile to shared lib...

Re: Conversion of SP maps to MP-playable, serverside

Yes it's a game module not included in jk2mv I described earlier. I'm not really sure if there is any clean 1.04 source code with modern build scripts. I have one for linux but that's all. You can always download jk2 sdk 2.0 and use batch scripts included there. Or try this thing Triforce put togeth...

Re: JoMME modifications

Offline demo records as much data as online - server packets. The only difference is that if you were using non-dedicated server, server frames were not in regular 50 msec intervals. This accentuates third person camera warping and can be the cause of this – we won't know until you check. I wrote a ...

Re: JoMME modifications

I don't mean jagged edges but how they are jagged. There are 2 small steps and a big one. Either time intervals between frames are uneven or it's a side-effect of broken third person camera code. Try in first person to make sure.

If not, I suppose it will simply be slow, heh. But then we can forget about the pixel-based approach definitely. You can forget about it using this exact method for sure, I explained it already. It's not speculation, it's estimation. Consider my sidenote idea if you want pixel-based approach, you c...

Re: JoMME modifications

1. A very low timescale on the vanilla jomme code did not do anything beyond 0.15 or so. I have found that there is a limit for the msec going < 1 in the jk2 code. I removed that. After that, the game just got stuck on values below 0.15 or so. After I replaced everything else with the float values,...

Re: JoMME modifications

VM = Virtual Machine. In id tech 3 there are 3 modules (subsystems) which can be loaded either as native shared libraries or as special qvm code for quake virtual machine. This separation exists to make modding the game easier, their source code was released in old SDKs and you can easily distribute...

Re: JoMME modifications

Alrighty! Thanks for this writedown. I am only doing this by-the-side, that's why I respond so lately. I have downloaded the project and opened it in Visual Studio 2013 Express. I tried a quick compile (just hit the Build button) and got this error: error C1083: Cannot openinclude file 'ft2build.h'...

Re: Help archiving JK2 tournaments

There's some old Pro@ tournaments missing from here as well, I'll provide you the Challonge links. http://proat.challonge.com/ I agree with Ferox, if you participated, please try adding them. I wanted to do it but too many unknowns for a person who wasn't there: player flags, fake nicks, 2v2 teams....

Fix the unknown flags please. Use [[File:int.png]] (international). If you can find numbers of participants it would be great, it's a very useful piece of information.

Re: Help archiving JK2 tournaments

1.02 section is empty right now, it's a sub-section and next "CTF, Guns and Force-based Tournments" is a main section. You should get some sources for these, try using your old bookmarks in archive.org, follow links there. Some dates don't match (eg american duel tournament I and II) and I...

Re: 1.04 Sabering fragmovie proposition

I'm thinking more of a project that would take weeks/months to finish. At least I know this is how long fragmovies I'm referring to required. Thanks anyway, if you want to make something short, you're welcome to use my demos. I'll probably go out with this proposition to jkhub and further to some qu...

1.04 Sabering fragmovie proposition

1.04 sabering scene I remember was always mostly about competition and I think it's a shame it has so little to show for it. We can blame the fact that it's golden age ended before youtube era and before advanced movie making jk2 tools were available. The only semi-decent video featuring competitive...

Nice.

You can use as large textures as you want. Game engine (jk2mv and original) will simply downscale them if they are too big for your hardware. According to this in 2015 89% gfx cards supported 8192x8192 texture

So what do we do? Finish the challenge and start climbit v2? I wanted to give it another week but didn't expect next map release so soon. Do people play it already? Sorry for asking like this, but I'm slightly not up to date, Daggo is very busy too and I can't even ask him about Dark server timers. ...

I'm not a big fan of plain and flat maps, but people love ffa_cloudshak so what do I know. On the visual side I haven't played it yet, but it has nice minimalistic look, interesting. Love the skyboxes! Last screenshots seems to have pretty bad tiling pattern though.
Hope to see it on some servers.

Re: Climb it 2

So what about that climbit challenge? Shall I stop it and announce climbit 2? Are ppl playing it? Will you promote it a bit if I do? Yes, I definitely see a need for a map that is nicer for players: no very hard jumps, no dramatic setbacks on failures. Maybe it will get more ppl into climbing. I oft...
